Texas HC Steve Sarkisian Drops Surprising Truth on Why the 4-Team CFP Beats Expansion—Fans Won’t Believe His Reason!
With the College Football Playoff set to 12 teams for the 2026-27 season, there is a legitimate chance of expanding it to 24 teams at some point down the road. Perhaps sooner, rather than later. The idea of a 24-team format has been controversial, to say the least, and it sounds like Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian doesn’t like the idea of another expansion.
Sarkisian, who is 52 years old, claimed he would rather the CFP go back to four teams instead of expanding to 24, according to Evan Vieth of Inside Texas. Sarkisian explains how a 24-team format creates the notion that it is “playoffs for bust” for every program in college football, and he doesn’t like it.
