Texas Tech’s Brendan Sorsby Risks It All on Bizarre Bets You’ve Never Heard Of—And the Results Will Shock You
The saga around Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby continues. It has been three weeks since Sorsby left the program to seek treatment for gambling addiction. He has since sued the NCAA in an attempt to have a ruling on the status of his eligibility.
As part of the suit, it is coming to light what the player bet on, per Matthew Glenesk and John Brice of USA Today.
“Mr. Sorsby, however, was addicted to sports gambling,” the legal filing reads. “He continued to place bets on other sports as his gambling escalated into a compulsion he could not control. He placed thousands of bets — often on events he did not even regularly follow, like games in the Turkish basketball league and Romanian soccer matches. None of his bets involved teams he played on or players he held any non-public information about.”
