Tim Tebow and Ol’ Ball Coach Team Up with Morgan Wallen in Shocking Gainesville Walkouts—What Sparks the Unlikely Alliance?
Wallen, a devout Tennessee Volunteers fan, was happy to don Florida gear and rub a gator head for good luck.
But he drew the line at joining Tebow in a gator chomp on Friday night. As Tebow started the arm motion, Wallen gave the no-go sign and dipped his head. Florida Victorious, the official NIL partner of the University of Florida, shared the scene on X.
Wallen, a native of eastern Tennessee, walks a fine line with his crowd pandering, especially when visiting SEC college towns. During an April show in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Wallen walked out with legendary head coach Nick Saban but did not wear a Crimson Tide jersey presented to him before the show. Later, he trolled the crowd by turning fans’ wristbands orange during the song “TN.”
Gator legends thrill Gainesville
Tebow and Spurrier are obvious choices for Gainesville. Spurrier, the “Ol’ Ball Coach,” won the 1966 Heisman Trophy as the Florida quarterback. The now-81-year-old returned to the school and coached the Gators from 1990-2001, leading Florida to its first national title in 1996.
Tebow is among the best college football players of all time. The quarterback won national championships in 2006 and 2008 and took home the Heisman Trophy in 2007. After a brief NFL career, Tebow became a college football analyst with ESPN and the SEC Network. He also is a motivational speaker and philanthropist.
