The first rookie in MLB history to hit four home runs in a game, Kurtz also matched the record of 19 total bases (previously done by Shawn Green in 2002) in the Athletics’ 15-3 win at the Astros. His fourth home run occurred off a position player, Cooper Hummel, who was on the mound in the ninth inning of the blowout. The 22-year-old Kurtz also had a single and a double in a 6-for-6 performance, driving in eight runs and scoring six times.
