Viewed by some as the greatest of all time, the all-time steals leaderboard is yet another career list with Jordan’s name on it. Jordan played fewer games than anyone else on this list, yet his 2.35 steals per game were enough to amass the fourth-highest total in league history.

5. Gary Payton – 2,445

Payton’s relentless, physical defense led him to nine NBA All-Defensive First Team selections, all while matching up with some of the best players in league history. “The Glove” was able to guard many positions, frequently forcing turnovers and bad shots, leading many to view him as the best defensive guard the league has seen.
