Why Carnell Tate’s Draft Drama Elevates Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith to NFL Contender Status
Even with Smith dominating for the Buckeyes, fellow Ohio State wideout Carnell Tate was the No. 4 overall selection by the Tennessee Titans. Tate is clearly an excellent wideout, but Smith has been the best receiver in the nation. College football analyst Greg McElroy is thoroughly impressed with Smith.
“He is arguably the best player in college football, regardless of position,” McElroy said. “He comes back his junior year. Had he gone out last year, he would’ve been a no-doubt, consensus Top-10 pick. Think about this for a second. The guy that was No. 2 on Ohio State last year in receiving, he went fourth overall. That just goes to show you how good Jeremiah Smith is.”
