Why College Football 27’s PC Debut Could Change the Game Forever

College Football 27, the third edition of EA Sports’ revived sports video game series, will introduce a wholly revamped Dynasty mode, improve coverage options with features including smart zone defenses and even bring back the wacky Mascot Mashup. And PC gamers rejoice: CFB 27 will finally be available off-console.

Orlando-based EA Sports revealed the details on College Football and Madden NFL 27 in a primetime drop June 4. The news comes just days after Miami’s Malachi Toney, Ole Miss‘s Kewan Lacy and Oregon’s Dante Moore were revealed as CFB 27 cover athletes and one day after Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams was placed on the Madden cover.

Originally known as NCAA Football, the college franchise was shelved after the 2013 edition because of lawsuits over compensation for the players appearing in the game. EA brought the series back in 2024 with all players who want to be included given payment for their name, image and likeness, and College Football 25 became the best-selling sports game of all time. CFB 26 was a more modest success as the best-selling game for July 2025.
