Chris Hummer of CBS Sports confirmed that the National Championship Game runner-up came close to landing the Alabama star.
“Miami had interest in Alabama’s Ty Simpson after he declared for the NFL Draft, but a lucrative offer wasn’t enough to bring him back to college,” Hummer shared. “Simpson, unlike [Carson] Beck a year prior, remained in the draft.”
