Why Georgia Tech’s Crushing Loss to Colorado Left Coach Brent Key Unshaken
Georgia Tech was a 45-yard field goal away from beginning the season 1-0 and stomping on Colorado’s heart, but defensive back Boo Carter blocked the attempt in the closing seconds and lifted the Buffaloes to a wacky 14-13 victory in Atlanta. The Yellow Jackets entered the season opener as the favorite and they had the game in hand late in the fourth quarter multiple times. One disastrous play will define this Power Four face-off, but head coach Brent Key is not dwelling on the kick.
And that is because he was unsatisfied with Georgia Tech’s performance well before the FG-block.
