World Cup 2026 Group J Showdown: Which Underdog Will Shock the World?
Mohamed Amoura’s 10 goals in qualifying represented seven more than any other player in Algeria’s group, including a hat-trick at home to Mozambique. The Wolfsburg forward is one of four Bundesliga players in the squad and started the season with eight goals in 19 league appearances, then finished it without finding the net in 11 appearances.
Former Roma and Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, who was capped by France in 2020, and Marseille forward Amine Gouiri, who is back from injury and netted twice in a 7-0 friendly win over Guatemala in Genoa in March, are among the more experienced figures called up, as is ex-Tottenham midfielder Nabil Bentaleb, now representing Lille.
