Cowboys Shock NFL with Record-Breaking $28 Million Deal for Kicker Brandon Aubrey—What This Means for the Season
In March, Dallas placed a second-round tender on Aubrey worth $5.76 million. This allowed him to negotiate with other teams, but the Cowboys retained the right to match any offer. Alternatively, a team signing him would have had to surrender a second-round pick, likely along with offering a record-setting contract.
Ultimately, the Cowboys secured a long-term agreement with their standout kicker.
Since joining Dallas in 2023, Aubrey has emerged as one of the NFL’s most reliable specialists, making at least 36 field goals in each of his three seasons. He has been nearly automatic from under 50 yards, converting 92% of his 83 attempts. He’s also demonstrated elite leg strength, going 24-of-27 from 50+ yards early in his career before finishing 11-of-17 from that range this past season.
