Magnetic Reconnection and Energy Release
A key process in the release of energy from the Sun’s magnetic field is magnetic reconnection. This occurs when magnetic field lines with opposing polarities come into close proximity and break, releasing a tremendous amount of energy in the form of heat and kinetic energy.
