HBCU Sensation Sparks NFL Frenzy with Dual Tryouts—Could He Be the Next Big Underdog Story?
One of the brightest stars in HBCU football is getting two chances to make it to the NFL. Former Virginia Union running back Curtis Allen went unselected in the 2026 NFL Draft despite a historic season. But per separate reports from CBS 6 reporter Sean Robertson and ESPN Richmond’s Jack Fitzpatrick, Allen has received minicamp invites from the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks and the Atlanta Falcons.
Allen had a historic run at Virginia Union University, making history for the Panthers this year. He stayed with Virginia Union all four years of his career, previously paired in the running back room with Jada Byers. Byers was a star running back in his own right and emerged as the starting running back in Allen’s first three seasons with the program.
