But after Byers graduated following the 2024 season, Allen became a focal point of Dr. Alvin Parker’s run-heavy offense. Last season, he rushed for 1,490 yards and 30 touchdowns on 297 attempts. One of the best games of the year for Allen came against CIAA rival Bluefield State, where he rushed for 369 yards and 5 touchdowns on his own.

His historic season led to his eventual win of the Harlon Hill Trophy. The Harlon Hill Award is Division II football’s equivalent of the Heisman Trophy, awarded to the best player in Division II football. Allen became the 1st HBCU player to win the award, following in the footsteps of Byers, who was a Harlon Hill Trophy finalist during his years with the Panthers.
