How Maryland Pulled Off a Stunning Last-Minute Coup to Snatch North Carolina Safety
The Maryland Terrapins secured their 10th commitment in the 2027 recruiting class after flipping three-star safety Chuck Roberts from the North Carolina Tar Heels during the program’s second official visit weekend.
Roberts, a 6-foot, 180-pound defensive back at IMG Academy in Florida, had been committed to North Carolina since Dec. 29 before changing his pledge to Maryland. The commitment marks the Terrapins first recruiting flip of the 2027 cycle and gives the program their second safety commitment in consecutive official visit weekends alongside Texas prospect Kevin Jackson.
