Michigan Coach Kyle Whittingham Drops Cryptic Comments on Tommy Carr — Is Bryce Underwood’s Starting Spot in Danger?
“He’s just got ‘it.’ You watch him play, and it’s so obvious,” Whittingham said in the spring about Carr. “He’s young, he’s a freshman. But he’s a ball player.”
Putting that in contrast with what Whittingham just said about Carr, there is a clear possibility that Underwood could be heading to the bench.
“He’s our QB now,” Whittingham said Monday of Underwood. “At some point, we’ve got to turn a corner and we’ve got to see improvement.”
The Michigan offense was a disaster against Western Michigan. On the first drive of the game, Michigan drove the field and scored a touchdown. On the drive, Underwood completed all six passes he attempted for 57 yards. He also ran for 11 yards and a touchdown. On the final drive, he was two for six for 75 yards and a touchdown. In between, he was just four for ten, passing for 38 yards with an interception.
