Earlier in the season, Underwood’s play got so bad that Whittingham publicly contemplated benching him for backup Tommy Carr. While the move hasn’t been made just yet, it is clearly something that is still on the table as Underwood continues to struggle. Against both Iowa and Minnesota, Michigan struggled to get anything going in the passing game.
There is a lot of pressure on Underwood, Beck, and the rest of the Wolverines coming into this game. This Michigan team was expected to compete for a CFP spot this season, and with two losses already on its record, Saturday’s game in Ann Arbor is now a must-win.
