The league’s most prominent voice has been sounding this alarm for a while. Commissioner Greg Sankey filed an affidavit in an eligibility case, warning that permitting former professional athletes to return creates “a competitive disadvantage and fundamental unfairness” for current student-athletes who stayed committed to the collegiate model.
