Avoiding Common Cognitive Biases
One of the greatest enemies of accuracy is confirmation bias, where a trader seeks out information that supports their existing view while ignoring contradictory evidence. In the context of event contracts, this can lead to holding a losing position far too long because the trader is only reading news that suggests the event will eventually happen. To counter this, many professionals intentionally seek out the strongest arguments for the opposing side of their trade, effectively stress-testing their own thesis before committing capital.
