Urban Meyer Warns: Is the 24-Team College Football Playoff a Recipe for Chaos?

“Yeah, I think 24 is too much,” Meyer said, per The Script, via Nick Kosko of On3 Sports. “But I was wrong about 12. I thought 12 was a little bit too much. Miami gets in there, they would have never gotten in, and they should have won the national title. So, I think 24 is too much. You start dipping down, like you said, (into) the teams that have very mediocre years (and they) should not be in the playoffs, so I think 24 is too much.”

Indeed, the Miami Hurricanes seemed to prove the validity of the 12-team format last year, just barely making it in, in a controversial fashion over Notre Dame no less, and then proceeding to win three straight games to make it to the national championship, and very nearly knocking off Indiana when they got there.
