Detroit Red Wings Poised to Shake Up Franchise with Mysterious President of Hockey Operations Hunt
It cannot be possible that we are, so it’s October, September, August, July. Fired Steve Yzerman on the night of July 2nd. That’s when Chris Ilitch phoned him. This is a long time. So it is helpful to know that at least the Red Wings have been pretty clear, we want a President of Hockey Ops. To hear him come out and say that publicly, and then that person will hire the general manager.
And it also sounds like, according to Chris Ilitch, that they’re pretty impressed with the work that Shawn Horcoff has done to this point. So I would say it feels like probably at least for Horcoff’s sake, a glacier moving at glacial pace. But it sounds like he might be in the driver’s seat to ultimately be the next GM whenever this president of hockey ops, his boss, is hired.”
