Detroit Red Wings Poised to Shake Up Franchise with Mysterious President of Hockey Operations Hunt
NHLRumors.com Note: Chris Ilitch saying what was known isn’t new. What is new is that Ilitch still views Horcoff as a prime candidate for the GM job, but that will be up to the person who comes in as the President of Hockey Operations. The issue is, what is taking so long? As we have seen with the Nashville Predators, you want to get it right, but someone coming in usually wants to hire their own people. So whoever the Red Wings want to bring in may not see Horcoff as their guy.
However, since Horcoff signed Alex DeBrincat to a seven-year extension, many felt he had more power than originally thought. But with Ilitch’s comments, does that change in the league’s eyes? It will be interesting to see what happens with Simon Edvinsson, as Horcoff is adamant he wants to sign him.
