Cowboys Lock Down Star WR George Pickens with $27.3M Franchise Tag—What’s Next for His Future?

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens has signed the franchise tag, the team announced Wednesday.

After signing the tender, Pickens, who broke out in 2025 during his first season with the Cowboys, will be guaranteed $27.3 million this season.

Last week, on Day 1 of the NFL Draft, a report surfaced that the 25-year-old wideout was signing the tag, but on Monday, ESPN’s Todd Archer reported that Pickens had not, in fact, followed through yet.

Soon after, while on the “The Pat McAfee Show,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter provided a bit of clarification on the apparent discrepancy. After all, it’s been widely reported that Pickens’ desired a long-term deal this offseason.
