Cowboys Lock Down Star WR George Pickens with $27.3M Franchise Tag—What’s Next for His Future?
The 2025 second-team All-Pro is coming off a career year, in which he piled up a team-leading and career-high 93 catches and 1,429 receiving yards for the Cowboys while making his first Pro Bowl.
Dallas traded for Pickens last offseason, acquiring him and a 2026 sixth-round pick in a deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick.
As a result, the Georgia product was paired with five-time Pro Bowl receiver CeeDee Lamb. While concerns about Pickens’ maturity lingered, especially after he and Lamb were benched to start Week 11 after missing curfew, he thrived in Dallas’ offense with quarterback Dak Prescott.
