NBA 2K27 Review: Is This the Most Radical Redesign Yet?

NBA 2K27 Review: Is This the Most Radical Redesign Yet?

There’s also a fully realized story that follows the trials and tribulations of a former 5-star prospect on a path through the G-League and into the NBA. It’s not bad by any stretch of the imagination, but it’s not exactly memorable either. There are also some weird moments contrived for the story that really don’t make sense in real-world basketball. Upon arriving at a street ball tournament at Rucker Park everyone is immediately aware of who the player character is, despite him being a high school prospect from California who was set to attend Duke, but never did. People really don’t follow five-star recruits like that outside of college hoops nerds, unless they’re in close proximity. If the player character went to high school in Brooklyn, or if they committed to play at St. John’s then there would have been some reason that everyone recognized me. Also, I understand it’s for dramatic effect — but upon arriving in the G-League people tell you that “everyone is fighting for a chance at making the NBA,” which is totally understandable; however the amount of in-fighting and an attempted sabotage inside the team is beyond the pale.

More options on the women’s side, but we’re just not there yet

This year allows for women to be created in MyPlayer, so games inside the city are co-ed. This is a really good move that’s nice to see. Also the same attention to the on-court action has been applied to the WNBA, making the game feel better than it ever has before.
