For Ben Haumiller, College Football 27’s principal game designer and a 26-year EA Sports veteran, the constant updates represent a dramatic shift from the old days of game development.

This year, however, developers realized they could deliver updates almost weekly, with larger content drops arriving roughly once a month. Each update is designed not only to fix issues but also to improve the overall gameplay experience.
“We try to keep as much going in the current game because we don’t want to ever have it feel like we’ve just abandoned the game right after launch,” Haumiller told USA TODAY Sports. “We’re in a very short cycle, so we do try to cram as much as we can into it.”
