Occasionally, however, the updates are much larger in scope. One recent addition was the EA Sports Network, which generates storylines and news items within Dynasty and Road to Glory modes to make the experience feel more connected to a real college football season.
The feature wasn’t included at launch because it wasn’t ready in time for College Football 27’s release. Rather than push out an unfinished product, developers chose to hold it until it met their standards and then release it as a post-launch update.
“We didn’t want to rush something out that was half baked and wasn’t great. We knew we had in our back pocket the ability to do these updates in a post-launch environment,” Haumiller said. “We’re all happy and comfortable with where it was at, so it’s one of those things we like to surprise and delight where we can.”
It’s a constant juggling act: improving the current game while already building the next one.
