How EA Sports’ Relentless Updates Are Revolutionizing College Football 27 Beyond All Expectations
“We’re always trying to balance how much can we add into this year, but also not wind up having to cut something big next year because we stayed on this one too long,” Haumiller said. “We are working on support of the current game plus next year’s game.”
Aside from cosmetic changes, the majority of updates come from community feedback since the franchise has a loyal fanbase, which EA Sports takes to heart.
“I think what’s really great about this team is that we are willing to take our lumps when we’ve done something wrong,” Haumiller said. “We want to make sure we get things right.”
That includes the backlash it received from the inclusion of paid progression options, or microtransactions, for its top game modes. It resulted in several calls to boycott the game since it was seen as a money-grab, and after a few days, EA Sports made the decision to remove it, admitting “we’ve missed the mark” in the announcement.
