Jay Paterno Reveals Shocking Insights on Drew Allar and Penn State’s NFL Draft Future

2025 wasn’t the most fruitful year for Penn State football, as the program fired head coach James Franklin amid a 7-6 (3-6 Big Ten) campaign. However, that wasn’t because of a talent deficiency, as the Nittany Lions had several players who will be selected in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Someone who had a front-row seat to the action was Penn State Board of Trustees member Jay Paterno, who played quarterback at the school from 1986 to 1990 and was on the coaching staff for 17 seasons between 1995 and 2011. The Pennsylvania native has been part of the university’s Board of Trustees since 2017 and grew up around the football program, as his late father Joe Paterno was the head coach from 1966 to 2011.
